Virtual Futures presents the first New York City edition of Near-Future Fictions.

Continuing our mission to reassert the significance of science-fiction as a tool for navigating our interactions with technology in the future, the event aims to bring together American and English writers to delve beneath the Big Apple's luminescent veneer.

Henry Wessells
Author of A Conversation larger than the Universe, Readings in Science Fiction and the Fantastic 1752-2017, and The Private Life of Books. Currently, he works as an antiquarian bookseller in New York City.

Live Readings & Panel Discussion

Tim Maughan
Author and journalist using both fiction and non-fiction to explore issues around cities, class, culture, technology, and the future. His work regularly appears on the BBC, New Scientist, and Vice/Motherboard. His debut novel INFINITE DETAIL will be published by FSG in 2019.

Joanne McNeil
Writer, editor and critic who has contributed to the New York Times and Rhizome. Joanne won the Arts Writing Fellowship Award Winner, and is the author of After the Eclipse on Paragon Hill.

Brendan C. Byrne
Fiction author and critic, whose work has appeares in the Baffler, Rhizome, Terraform and Flapperhouse.

Jennifer Marie Brissett
Science Fiction author who's debut novel Elysium was the winner of the Philip K. Dick Award Special Citation, and whose short stories have been published in The Future Fire and Terraform.
